Who We Are

The BUDS in the Blackwater Partnership consists of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), Essex Wildlife Trust and Harwich Haven Authority. The partners have been working together since 2018 to identify and deliver habitat creation and restoration projects in the Blackwater Estuary. More information on the partner organisations can be found at the below links.

The BUDS in the Blackwater Estuary project is funded through the Environment Agency's £25m Natural Flood Management Programme which seeks to protect homes and communities from flooding, whilst delivering wider benefits to society.

The project is also receiving funding through 'Transforming the Thames', a Zoological Society of London-led project that seeks to restore the ecological function of the Greater Thames Estuary, enhancing it's recovery, connection and resilience, and re-establishing it as  a thriving coastal wetland for nature and local communities.
